Description

This project consists of a new 31,340 square foot building which houses the operations of Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union, or ALEC. This three-story facility provides Credit Union services for its members and office space for the company management and staff. An innovative three lane drive-thru service option utilizing Intelligent Teller Machines is part of the overall design. The main level is focused on customer service spaces and includes a Community Space and an Education Center. The second floor is organized around day-to-day office operations and the third floor provides space for the senior management and board of directors. The building highlights extensive energy efficient glazing bringing daylight deep into the building floor areas and open office spaces. The exterior is clad with a combination of real stone veneer panels and architectural metal panel rainscreen system and creates a modern but warm feel. Interior finish materials are durable but also “warm” and make extensive use of natural materials including tongue and groove clear maple wood wall systems and ceiling panels. Floor finishes include a combination of hard and soft flooring material systems. Ceramic and porcelain tile are used in high traffic spaces and carpet tiles used in lower traffic areas and spaces that require a quieter environment. HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems are all designed with energy efficiency in mind. The result is an exceptionally functional and good-looking building that will serve its members and the community for many years.
